The Story of MixBrix's First Product – QR Frame (Told by Bax)
"I'm Bax. This is my very first venture."
I wanted to buy new LEGO sets, but my old ones had piled up at home, taking way too much space. Some of them were starting to feel a bit childish. My dad said to me,'You need to learn how to sell what you already have first.'
I tried selling my sets, but it wasn't easy. Either no one was interested, or I had to sell them really cheap. That didn't feel right.
'Why not make QR codes out of LEGO bricks?'
— The idea that sparked everything
One day, while printing a QR code for my dad, an idea popped into my head: 'Why not make QR codes out of LEGO bricks?'
I got to work right away and built the first prototype within a week. But there was a big problem: the thick LEGO bricks created shadows, and the QR codes couldn't be scanned properly. I knew I had to find a solution.
My dad and I turned our garage into a small workshop. Through trial and error, I made the product lighter, more readable, and way cooler.
I'll never forget the moment when my phone successfully scanned the first LEGO QR code I made. That was awesome!
When it was time to start selling, I felt a bit shy. But I pushed myself to gather my courage and started going door to door. I introduced QR Frame to local businesses. When I made my first sale, it felt like I owned the world!
A special thanks to the first businesses who believed in me and supported this journey:Baires Coffee Shop (Hackensack)Heights Burger (Hasbrouck Heights)
You were the first piece of this dream.
Afterward, my dad and I worked on the software side too. We built a system so the QR links could be updated and the product could be customized. What started as just an idea became a real solution. And that's how MixBrix was born.
Today, QR Frame is reaching many businesses as an eye-catching and sustainable marketing tool. And this is just the beginning!
